Artist Statement

My work is a reflection of the past through the use of layers, and centralizes around an exurban/industrial theme. This type of work satisfies my curiosity to explore what it would be like to live in a city rather than the suburbs in which I have always lived. 

My work is digitally created before the physical object is made. I then collage printed media onto my surface to provide a specific texture and mechanical typography that cannot be created by paint alone. Then I slowly paint layer on top of layer concealing some of the previous layers. The last step of each work consists of sanding away areas of my work to reveal previous layers and my overall creative process. My aim with this work is to explore the city, and create images that uncover its personality, its history, and its aesthetics.​
